Vivek Ramaswamy, the Indian-American Republican politician who recently suspended his US Presidential campaign, suggested on Tuesday, July 9, that President Joe Biden’s “exit” is certain. He implied that the current public antics are part of negotiating Biden’s exit package.
In a social media post on X (formerly Twitter), Ramaswamy said, “Biden’s done. The public theatrics are really just part of the negotiation for what his ‘exit package’ will be. At this stage, it’s simply a matter of negotiation—figuratively or perhaps even literally.”
Donald Trump is the presumptive nominee of the Republican Party, while President Joe Biden is the Democratic Party’s nominee for the upcoming November US elections.
As the oldest US president, Biden claims to be the country’s best hope to protect democracy and defend American liberties. His political agenda suggests that Donald Trump poses a threat to the future of the country. Biden faced no significant challengers for the Democratic nomination.
Biden faced widespread criticism for his lackluster performance in the first presidential debate against Trump in June. He later attributed his poor performance to jet lag and exhaustion from earlier visits to France and Italy. Weeks before the debate, he visited these countries and claimed he didn’t listen to his staff and nearly fell asleep on stage.
The day after the debate, Biden acknowledged, “I don’t walk as easy as I used to, I don’t speak as smoothly as I used to, I don’t debate as well as I used to,” but pledged to beat his rival.
Ramaswamy’s comments came a day after Biden insisted he would not quit the election race. Following the debate, the White House released a letter from Biden’s personal doctor, Kevin O’Connor, addressing accusations of Parkinson’s disease.
In the letter, Biden stated, “I am firmly committed to staying in the race,” and called for unity within the party to defeat Trump.
A Reuters/Ipsos poll published in July shows Biden and Trump tied at 40% among registered voters, indicating Biden has maintained his position despite the debate. However, various pollsters report that Trump is ahead in numerous key battleground states.
