Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin has made significant appointments to various administrative boards, aiming to enhance diversity and representation. Five Indian Americans from different backgrounds have been selected for these roles.
Harshad Barot, the owner of Galaxy Corporation, will serve on both the Virginia Asian Advisory Board and the Virginia Small Business Commissions Board of the Commonwealth. Barot, who hails from India, has previously been involved with the Minority Business Council of Virginia Beach until 2019. Dr. Kamlesh Dave, the President of Heart Care Associates, has been appointed to the Asian Advisory Board as well.
Dr. Bimaljit Singh Sandhu, a prominent gastroenterologist, has been named as a member of the Virginia Commonwealth University Health System Authority Board of Directors. In this capacity, he will contribute to the advancement of the state’s health education.
Kunal Kumar, President of Pooja Group, and Dr. Padmanabhan Seshaiyer, a professor and director at George Mason University, have been chosen for the Virginia Commonwealth Board of Workforce Development. In this role, they will provide valuable advice to the Governor on workforce development strategies aligned with employer needs.
Additionally, Zubin Mehta, a resident of Glen Allen, has been appointed to the Virginia Foundation for Healthy Youth.
Governor Glenn Youngkin expressed his gratitude to the appointees for their commitment to serving the Commonwealth. He believes that their contributions will be instrumental in making Virginia the best place to live, work, and raise a family, aligning with the goals of his administration’s day two agenda.
