The University of Vermont (UVM) has announced the appointment of Indian American Vikas Anand as the new Dean of the Grossman School of Business, highlighting his extensive background in business school administration, strategic program development, accreditation, and global engagement.
Anand currently serves as Associate Dean for Academic Programs at North Carolina State University’s Poole College of Management, where he manages undergraduate and graduate programs, executive education, global initiatives, career services, and marketing. Under his leadership, Poole College has seen notable enrollment growth, curriculum innovations, and improved student outcomes, earning strong national rankings and successful employment results.
Expressing enthusiasm for his new role, Anand stated on social media that he is “excited for the new role” and looks forward to collaborating with the stakeholders at Grossman School. Prior to Poole College, he held senior leadership positions at the University of Arkansas, including Executive Director of MBA Programs and Graduate Innovation, Chair of the Department of Management, and Executive Director of the George W. Edwards III Career Center.
At Arkansas, Anand managed a center with a $5.6 million endowment and redesigned the MBA curriculum and new master’s programs to emphasize experiential learning, global immersion, and data analytics. During his tenure, EMBA enrollment rose from 120 to 200 students, reflecting his focus on preparing students for dynamic global business environments.
UVM President Marlene Tromp praised Anand’s combination of research, teaching, and administrative experience, noting that he brings “innovative energy” to the university’s academic leadership team. Anand earned his Ph.D. in Management from Arizona State University and has published 28 peer-reviewed journal articles with over 6,000 citations. An award-winning teacher, he has instructed students at the undergraduate, MBA, and Ph.D. levels and mentored faculty extensively.
The University highlighted Anand’s commitment to inclusive excellence, interdisciplinary collaboration, and program innovation, including initiatives in sustainability, AI, global study, and lifelong learning. His expertise in international business and institutional advancement equips him to align business education with societal impact, industry relevance, and student success.
Provost Linda Schadler described Anand as a “thoughtful and effective leader,” emphasizing that UVM will benefit from his insights into interdisciplinary programs and emerging areas of business education. Anand’s appointment signals a forward-looking vision for the Grossman School, aiming to strengthen both academic excellence and global engagement.
