During their official visit to India, Indian American Congressman Ro Khanna and Congresswoman Deborah Ross had a meeting with Bollywood actor Anupam Kher at his acting school in Mumbai. The purpose of this visit was to engage with students in an interactive session, where Khanna emphasized the importance of strengthening India-US relations in people-to-people and cultural aspects. He stressed that while defense, technology, and economic alignment are crucial, a cultural alignment through art and movies is equally significant.
Khanna shared his thoughts after the event on X, formerly Twitter, saying, “Inspiring to speak with the acting students of @anupampkher. He has helped train over 100,000 young people to achieve their dreams. He came to Bollywood with 37 rupees and made it by studying drama.”
Anupam Kher expressed his delight in hosting the representatives at his school, mentioning that they had an enriching interactive session with aspiring acting students. He felt joy in showcasing his school to them and thanked his friends for their warmth and appreciation.
Notably, Khanna’s India visit coincides with the 77th Independence Day celebrations in New Delhi on August 15. Leading a US Congressional delegation, he is engaged in an official visit to India, with plans to visit both Hyderabad and New Delhi during the trip.
