The bilateral relationship between the United States and India has reached new depths, according to US Secretary of State Antony Blinken. As India marked its 77th Independence Day, the Biden administration extended its best wishes to the Indian-Americans celebrating the occasion.
Highlighting the strong bond between the two nations, Blinken emphasized that the US and India, as the world’s oldest and largest democracies, are collaboratively contributing to an open, prosperous, secure, stable, and resilient world.
Expressing warm regards to India, Blinken acknowledged the profound growth in the US-India relationship over the past year. He underlined the significance of the strategic partnership between the two nations and celebrated the rich history of India.
Blinken reiterated the shared commitment to addressing global challenges and ensuring the well-being of both peoples. Indian-Americans across different cities celebrated Independence Day through various events, including flag hoisting and cultural gatherings. The contributions and heritage of Indian-Americans were recognized and honored by officials in Minnesota and Boston.
India’s Ambassador to the US, Taranjit Singh Sandhu, led the flag hoisting at India House, and similar ceremonies took place in diplomatic missions across various American cities. Notably, Indian Consul General in New York, Randheer Jaiswal, participated in the tricolor hoisting at Times Square.
As Indian-Americans celebrated, the enduring friendship and common aspirations between the US and India stood as a testament to their deepening ties.
