The United States Embassy in India on Wednesday shared a retrospective look at pivotal diplomatic engagements between Washington and New Delhi over the past year, expressing confidence that 2026 will further deepen the partnership between the two nations. Through a video posted on X, the embassy highlighted defining moments that shaped bilateral relations in 2025, setting the stage for what it described as an even stronger future collaboration.
Among the key visuals was Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Washington, where he met US President Donald Trump at the White House. The footage captured the two leaders in conversation, symbolizing continued high-level engagement and dialogue between India and the United States. This interaction was presented as one of the cornerstone moments of the year in strengthening diplomatic ties.
The video also featured scenes from the Quad Foreign Ministers Meeting, showing External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar alongside US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. Another significant highlight was the signing of a ten-year update to the Framework for the US–India Major Defence Partnership, reflecting sustained cooperation in security and strategic affairs.
Further moments included US Vice President JD Vance’s visit to India, during which Prime Minister Modi hosted Vance, his wife Usha Vance, and their children at his official residence. These images underscored the personal warmth and mutual respect that have characterized recent exchanges between the two governments.
The retrospective also touched upon collaboration in space and earth sciences, marked by the launch of the NISAR mission. In addition, the appointment of Sergio Gor as the next US Ambassador to India was highlighted as a step toward continued diplomatic engagement. While sharing the video, the US Embassy described it as a rewind of the moments that defined the partnership, ahead of a new year expected to bring closer cooperation.
Earlier this month, Prime Minister Modi and President Trump also held a phone conversation in which they reviewed the progress of bilateral relations and discussed regional and global developments. Both leaders emphasized the importance of maintaining momentum in areas such as trade, technology, defence, energy, and security.
They expressed satisfaction with the steady strengthening of the India–US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership and reaffirmed their commitment to advancing cooperation under the India–US COMPACT framework. The discussion concluded with a shared resolve to work closely on global challenges and promote peace, stability, and prosperity in the years ahead.
