The US Consulate General in Mumbai has announced the restart of regular visa appointments across all categories, which were paused due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This includes the scheduling of new appointments and the acceptance of 221(g) submissions, aimed at reducing processing delays for individuals planning travel to the US.
The Immigrant Visa Unit at the US Consulate General Mumbai has informed that all applicants whose appointments were canceled during the pandemic have received guidance on how to reschedule. This initiative is intended to tackle the backlog of applications and assist those whose travel plans were disrupted.
Furthermore, the Consulate is now receiving 221(g) submissions for all visa categories. This allows applicants to submit any necessary additional documents required for their visa applications, facilitating a smoother approval process.
For individuals applying for immigrant visas, the process entails sponsorship by a US citizen or lawful permanent resident, or by a prospective US employer with an approved petition from USCIS.
