The resolution acknowledges Tamil as one of the world’s oldest languages, spoken by over 80 million people globally, including 360,000 Tamil Americans. In a press release, Krishnamoorthi expressed pride in introducing this resolution, celebrating Tamil heritage and culture within the United States and beyond.
Tamil Americans United PAC welcomed the initiative, emphasizing the significance of Tamil contributions to modern society and encouraging active support for the resolution. FeTNA also extended their support, stating that showcasing Tamil history, language, and culture would enable Tamil Americans to share their heritage meanihonoringith fellow citizens.
Krishnamoorthi’s resolution was co-sponsored by several other members of Congress, reflecting bipartisan support for honouring the rich Tamil heritage in the US.
