In Uttar Pradesh, recent incidents have come to light involving Ghar Wapsi, where Muslim women have embraced Sanatan Dharma in Bareilly and Sitapur districts. In Bareilly, Nisha, now Radhika, married Rajesh Kumar, while in Sitapur, Nida Bano, now Nidhi, married Rachit Kumar. Both weddings, occurring on May 18, 2024, were conducted with Vedic rituals amidst chants of ‘Jai Shri Ram’ by Hindu organizations.
On May 18, Nisha and Rajesh approached the Agastya Muni Ashram in Bareilly, presenting their proof of adulthood to Pandit K.K. Shankhdhar, expressing their wish to marry. After verifying their legal documents, Pandit Shankhdhar conducted their marriage ceremony according to Vedic traditions. Before the wedding, Nisha underwent Ghar Wapsi, embracing Hinduism, and actively participated in Vedic rituals alongside Rajesh.
Nisha, daughter of Zakir from Bijnor’s Shyohara police station area, and Rajesh, from Nehtaur, Bijnor, faced familial opposition but eventually found solace in the Agastya Muni Ashram, where their marriage and Ghar Wapsi were conducted with legal compliance.
Pandit Shankhdhar faced threats from members associated with Bareilly’s Ala Hazrat, accusing him of illegal conversion, despite clarifying that all marriages he conducts involve consenting adults. He urged authorities to ensure their safety against such threats.
In Sitapur, Nida Bano, now Nidhi, embraced Sanatan Dharma and married Rachit Kumar in a Vedic ceremony at a Hindu temple, organized by the ‘Rashtriya Hindu Sher Sena’. Despite facing opposition from her family, Nida and Rachit found support and protection through the organization, eventually marrying at the Kalipith Temple in Sitapur city.
Nida expressed her happiness after Ghar Wapsi, relieved to have escaped the fear of triple talaq and halala, embracing Hinduism and marrying Rachit. The Rashtriya Hindu Sher Sena appealed to authorities to ensure the safety of the newlyweds.
