During her visit to India, US Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard expressed her deep connection with the country, calling it a place where she always feels at home. She spoke fondly of India’s rich culture, spiritual heritage, and cuisine, emphasizing the profound influence of the Bhagavad Gita on her life.
“India holds a special place in my heart. Every time I visit, I feel an incredible sense of belonging,” Gabbard stated on Monday. She praised the country’s warm and hospitable people, as well as its flavorful cuisine, sharing that dal makhani and fresh paneer dishes are her personal favorites.
A veteran of the US Army Reserve with more than two decades of service, Gabbard also highlighted the role of Krishna’s teachings in her life. She explained how the wisdom imparted to Arjuna in the Bhagavad Gita has provided her with inner strength, peace, and guidance during difficult times, including her military service.
“My spiritual journey and relationship with God are at the core of my life. Each day, I strive to live in a way that aligns with divine will and serves all of humanity,” she said. Reflecting further on the Gita’s teachings, she added, “Whether in war zones or navigating life’s challenges, I turn to Krishna’s words for strength, comfort, and clarity.”
Gabbard’s visit to India is part of a broader multi-nation tour, marking her first official trip since assuming office as the US Director of National Intelligence. Her itinerary in Asia will conclude with her speech at the Raisina Dialogue on March 18.
Her trip follows Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the US in February, during which he commended Gabbard as a strong advocate of India-US relations. Gabbard reciprocated the sentiment, calling it an honor to welcome Modi and reaffirming her commitment to strengthening diplomatic ties.
During their meeting in New Delhi on Monday evening, Modi presented Gabbard with a decorative vase containing holy water from the recently concluded Mahakumbh in Prayagraj, symbolizing the deepening spiritual and diplomatic connections between the two nations.
