US Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, currently on an official visit to India, met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday. During their meeting, PM Modi gifted her sacred Gangajal from the Maha Kumbh Mela, along with a rudraksha mala.
Taking to X, PM Modi welcomed Gabbard and highlighted their discussion on strengthening India-US strategic ties. “Both nations are committed to combating terrorism and enhancing maritime and cybersecurity cooperation,” he stated.
This meeting follows their previous encounter in the US last month after Gabbard assumed her role under President Donald Trump’s administration. Modi had then congratulated her and reaffirmed the growing India-US friendship.
During her visit, Gabbard emphasized the limitless potential for cooperation between the two countries. She pointed to the recent meeting between PM Modi and President Trump, where they agreed to boost trade and investment. Addressing trade tensions, she noted that both leaders are working towards a positive resolution, with direct top-level engagement on tariff issues.
“The goal is to strengthen economic ties in a way that benefits both nations,” Gabbard remarked, adding that Modi and Trump share a strong personal rapport, forming the foundation for deeper bilateral cooperation.
Earlier, Gabbard met Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, who raised concerns about the activities of the Khalistani separatist group Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) in the US. Singh urged the US administration to classify SFJ as a terrorist organization, citing its alleged ties to Pakistan’s ISI and the militant group Babbar Khalsa.
Singh also expressed concern over SFJ’s reported attacks on Hindu religious structures in the US and stressed the need for decisive action to prevent such incidents.
