The United States has reiterated that India remains at the center of its global diplomatic and strategic priorities, with newly appointed US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor emphasizing the strength of ties between Washington and New Delhi. Speaking shortly after assuming charge in the Indian capital, Gor highlighted President Donald Trump’s close personal relationship with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, describing it as genuine and enduring.
According to Gor, President Trump has expressed a strong desire to visit India within the next one to two years, reinforcing the importance he places on the bilateral relationship. The ambassador noted that no international partnership holds greater significance for the US at this moment than its engagement with India, particularly at a time when global alliances are undergoing rapid transformation.
Gor, who is regarded as a trusted member of Trump’s inner circle, said that discussions between the two countries on a potential trade agreement are actively progressing. He stressed that both governments are committed to expanding economic cooperation and addressing shared priorities through sustained dialogue.
A major highlight of Gor’s remarks was the announcement that India will soon be invited to join Pax Silica, a US-led strategic initiative focused on building a secure and innovation-driven silicon and technology supply chain. The initiative aims to strengthen collaboration across critical minerals, energy resources, advanced manufacturing, semiconductors, artificial intelligence, and global logistics networks. Countries such as Japan, South Korea, the United Kingdom, and Israel have already joined the framework.
The ambassador described Pax Silica as a forward-looking effort designed to enhance technological resilience and economic security among trusted partners. India’s inclusion, he said, reflects Washington’s confidence in New Delhi’s growing role as a technology and manufacturing powerhouse.
Reflecting on his mission, Gor said he arrived in India with deep respect and a clear objective to elevate cooperation between the world’s oldest democracy and the world’s largest democracy. He recalled President Trump fondly speaking about his previous visit to India and his friendship with Prime Minister Modi, underscoring the personal chemistry that continues to shape bilateral engagement.
Despite recent strains and shifting global dynamics, the ambassador’s statements signal a renewed push to deepen US–India ties across trade, technology, and strategic collaboration, positioning the partnership as a cornerstone of future global stability.
