Sergio Gor has said that Donald Trump “deeply cares” about the relationship between the United States and India, signalling continued focus on strengthening bilateral ties.
Gor shared details of his recent meeting with President Trump at the White House during a brief visit to the US. “Back in the US for a few days. First stop, meeting with our GREAT President in the White House,” he said in a public message.
While the ambassador did not disclose specific details of the discussion, the meeting was also attended by Marco Rubio, according to an image shared following the interaction.
The remarks come at a time when Washington is navigating multiple global challenges, including tensions in West Asia, while continuing to prioritise key strategic partnerships.
Gor’s statement highlighting Trump’s personal interest in US-India relations is expected to be closely observed by policymakers and analysts, particularly as the scope of cooperation between the two countries continues to expand.
Despite some recent challenges in bilateral ties, the United States has consistently viewed India as a key partner in the Indo-Pacific region. Cooperation between the two nations has been growing across areas such as maritime security, resilient supply chains, and advanced technologies.
At the same time, both sides have worked to manage differences on trade and regulatory issues, while maintaining momentum in their broader strategic relationship.
The meeting reflects ongoing coordination between the White House and its top envoy in New Delhi, underscoring the importance both countries place on sustaining and advancing their partnership in an evolving global landscape.
