US President Donald Trump has described India as a crucial strategic partner for the United States in the Indo-Pacific region, emphasizing the country’s rising global influence and historical depth. According to a statement shared by the US Embassy in India, Trump praised India as an exceptional nation shaped by one of the world’s oldest civilizations and highlighted his strong personal rapport with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
In a message posted on X, the embassy quoted Trump as calling India an “amazing country” that plays a central role in America’s Indo-Pacific strategy. He underscored that India’s partnership is essential to maintaining regional stability, economic growth, and long-term security cooperation across the region.
The remarks followed a recent telephone conversation between President Trump and Prime Minister Modi, during which both leaders reviewed the progress made under the India–US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership. The discussion reflected a shared satisfaction with the consistent expansion of bilateral ties and the deepening trust between the two governments.
Both leaders reiterated their commitment to strengthening cooperation across several priority sectors. Trade and commercial engagement featured prominently, with Trump and Modi agreeing that boosting bilateral trade remains a key pillar of the partnership. They stressed the importance of sustaining momentum to expand economic collaboration and unlock new opportunities for businesses in both countries.
The conversation also covered plans to broaden cooperation in critical technologies, energy, defence, and security. These areas are central to the India–US COMPACT framework, which aims to accelerate military collaboration, promote faster commercial exchanges, and advance cutting-edge technological cooperation suited to twenty-first-century challenges.
