President Donald Trump has selected two Indian Americans for prominent roles within his administration. Ricky Gill has been named Senior Director for South and Central Asian Affairs at the National Security Council (NSC). His responsibilities include managing relations with India and regional affairs. Gill previously held roles such as Director for Russia and European Energy Security at the NSC and Senior Advisor at the State Department’s Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations. After departing the NSC, Gill founded Gill Capital Group, where he served as Principal and General Counsel. He also advised on energy policies concerning Europe and Asia at TC Energy, the company behind the Keystone XL Pipeline. Gill, born in Lodi, New Jersey, to Jasbir and Param Gill, holds degrees from Princeton University and the University of California, Berkeley. He announced his new role on LinkedIn.
Saurabh Sharma, a Bengaluru-born conservative activist, has been appointed to the Presidential Personnel Office. Sharma co-founded American Moment, an organization aimed at training and credentialing young Americans for leadership roles. He also served as state chairman for the Young Conservatives of Texas and worked as a journalist for the Daily Caller. Sharma holds a biochemistry degree from the University of Texas. His appointment was confirmed by American Moment’s website.
These appointments underscore the growing prominence of Indian Americans in shaping U.S. policies and governance, particularly in national security and personnel domains.
