International Yoga Day 2025 came alive in New York’s Central Park with a refreshing blend of humor, heart, and holistic wellness as Emmy-nominated filmmaker and happiness ambassador Tirlok Malik led his “Happy Life Yoga” session. Hosted as part of the “UPLIFTNY2025” event by Meera Gandhi and The Giving Back Foundation, the June 21 gathering was a radiant celebration of yoga’s power to connect, uplift, and heal.
Under the summer sun, attendees joined in-person and virtually, laughing, stretching, and sharing stories that reflected Malik’s signature style — merging ancient wellness wisdom with modern joy. His session wasn’t just about poses and breathwork but about reconnecting with inner happiness.
The celebration didn’t stop there. On June 22, the Global Organization of People of Indian Origin (GOPIO) held its Annual Global Virtual Celebration, now in its fourth year online. With attendees joining from across continents, the event was a melting pot of culture, intellect, and inspiration. Ambassador Binaya Srikanta Pradhan, India’s Consul General in New York, led the proceedings, with notable participation from scientists, entrepreneurs, and changemakers — including Malik himself.
During the event, Malik shared reflections on using joy and positivity as tools to bridge cultures and foster global harmony. “Whether I’m teaching yoga or making films, I just want to spread happiness,” he said.
Malik’s cinematic pursuits also drew applause at the 25th anniversary of The New York Indian Film Festival. A loyal participant since its inception, he praised the festival’s artistic spirit and acknowledged director Aseem Chhabra for curating such a dynamic platform. Among the standout features was Tanvi the Great by Anupam Kher, which moved audiences deeply. In attendance was Kher’s friend and Hollywood legend, Robert De Niro.
Meanwhile, Malik’s own short film Hello Dad, starring Swiss actress Ankita Makwana and directed by Neha Lohia, continues to touch hearts. The environmentally conscious production was recently awarded the prestigious Environmental Media Association (EMA) Green Seal, recognizing its commitment to sustainable filmmaking.
From the peaceful lawns of Central Park to screens worldwide, Tirlok Malik continues to inspire — proving that wellness, creativity, and kindness can indeed change the world, one breath and one story at a time.
