Apple CEO Tim Cook recently held a virtual meeting with Asmi Jain, a young girl from Indore, who was selected as one of the winners of the WWDC23 Swift Student Challenge. The challenge aimed to encourage students worldwide to create an original app using the Swift coding language. Jain, who is 20 years old, developed an app called EyeTrack, which tracks a user’s eye movements as they follow a ball moving across the screen, ultimately helping to strengthen their eye muscles.
During the meeting, Tim Cook expressed his fascination with the thriving iOS developer community in India and praised Jain’s work as a prime example of creativity. He mentioned his previous encounter with the innovative iOS developer community in India and highlighted Jain’s remarkable contribution in the field of health. Cook expressed excitement about Jain’s future endeavors, believing that she is poised to make a significant impact on the world.
The inspiration for Jain’s app came from a personal experience. When she learned about her friend’s uncle undergoing brain surgery and experiencing eye misalignment and facial paralysis as a result, Jain took action. Her winning app, designed as a playground, tracks users’ eye movements as they follow a ball on the screen. While initially developed to aid her friend’s uncle, Jain hopes that her app can benefit individuals with various eye conditions and injuries.
