The Kerala Story has already crossed $20 million at the domestic box office and is now expected to cross $26 million. The film was released on May 5.
Even though The Kerala Story is in its third week of production, ticket counter attendance remains steady. The movie has $21 million in box office receipts and is currently striving for the $26 million milestone. Its creators claimed that it was based on a genuine account of young women who converted to Islam. Adah Sharma, Sonia Balani, Yogita Bihani, and Siddhi Idnani are among the main cast members of The Kerala Story, which Sudipto Sen directed and Vipul Shah produced.
Taran Adarsh, a film trade analyst, wrote on Twitter on Saturday, “The Kerala Story crosses 175 crore and is steadfastly moving towards 200 crore… Business should witness an upward trend on [the third] Saturday and Sunday… [Week 3] Friday, ₹6.60 cr. Total: 178.32 cr. India business…”
The Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) will now host a special screening of The Kerala Story for its students. “We are very excited to meet our own people there. This is the future of the industry that is getting ready for FTII. It would be very interesting and exciting to see how they are looking at The Kerala Story and what they think of it. What they have understood and their viewpoint, which is the future’s viewpoint. It is going to be fun,” Vipul Shah said.
The film, which has polarized the nation’s political dialogue, was first shown in theaters on May 5. On May 8, the West Bengal administration outlawed the movie after sensing tensions between the groups. Tamil Nadu theaters have previously decided to cease showing it starting on May 7.
