Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya announced on Sunday that he will join a high-level Indian parliamentary delegation visiting the United States and multiple Latin American countries from May 23 to June 6. This mission is part of a broader diplomatic initiative by the Indian government aimed at mobilizing global support against terrorism originating from Pakistan.
The delegation, which also includes Congress leader and MP Shashi Tharoor, is one of seven parliamentary teams assembled to visit 32 countries, along with the European Union. Each team consists of MPs from different political parties and is backed by retired diplomats. The initiative is designed to present India’s unified stance on terrorism, its right to self-defense, and the challenges posed by cross-border threats.
Commenting on the mission, Surya said, “I will be joining Dr. Shashi Tharoor in representing India across the Americas. We aim to deliver a firm and united message on Pakistan-sponsored terrorism and reaffirm our commitment to eradicating it.”
He highlighted Operation Sindoor, India’s recent counter-terror mission, calling it “precise, proportionate, and morally justified.” Surya added that the operation now stands as a global example of how nations can confront and resist state-supported terrorism.
The tour, he said, goes beyond diplomacy—it is a demonstration of India’s national resolve. “This effort reflects the Modi government’s commitment to building an international coalition to fight terrorism,” he emphasized.
Karnataka will have representation in multiple delegations. While Surya heads to the Americas, Mangaluru MP Captain Brijesh Chowta will join a separate team scheduled to visit the United Kingdom, France, and Germany.
Surya also expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar, and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju for choosing him to contribute to this important diplomatic initiative.
This global outreach marks a rare moment of bipartisan cooperation, with Indian lawmakers from across the political spectrum united to communicate the nation’s security concerns on the world stage.
