Tata Power EV Charging Solutions Ltd (TPEVCSL) and Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) have recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the goal of deploying over 500 electric vehicle (EV) charging points across India. This collaboration involves Tata Power establishing these charging stations at IOCL’s retail outlets. The primary objective is to create a robust intercity charging network that addresses range anxiety concerns for EV owners engaging in intercity travel.
The strategic partnership between TPEVCSL and IOCL aims to strategically position fast and superfast charging stations in major cities and along key highways. By utilizing IOCL’s extensive network, this initiative is designed to alleviate range anxiety for EV users traveling between cities. Access to these charging stations can be facilitated through the “Tata Power EZ Charge” and “IndianOil e-Charge” apps.
IOCL has set an ambitious target of achieving 10,000 EV charging stations by 2024. In contrast, Tata Power has a significant existing presence, operating in over 420 cities with more than 62,000 home chargers, 4,900 public charging points, and 430 bus charging stations. This collaboration reflects a concerted effort to contribute to the growing infrastructure supporting electric mobility in India.
