Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) (BSE: 532540, NSE: TCS), a global frontrunner in IT services, consulting, and business solutions, has inaugurated the Bringing Life to Things™ Lab in Cincinnati, Ohio. This facility is set to enhance the rapid prototyping, experimentation, and large-scale deployment of AI, GenAI, and IoT engineering solutions, enabling TCS to assist clients in swiftly and efficiently bringing innovative solutions to market.
Covering 3,000 square feet, the lab will bolster the implementation of TCS’ extensive IoT solutions suite, including TCS Clever Energy™, TCS Digital Manufacturing Platform™ (DMP), and TCS Digifleet™, among others. These solutions address a range of industries such as healthcare, life sciences, manufacturing, energy, and consumer packaged goods. The lab also aims to foster collaboration and co-innovation among businesses, integrating physical assets, partner technologies, and customer challenges to develop new offerings and solutions.
Amit Bajaj, President-North America, TCS, commented, “On the demand side, structural shifts such as energy transition, supply chain relocation, and AI necessitate new production capacities in the United States that are connected, intelligent, and autonomous by design. On the supply side, Intelligent Edge, driven by advances in connectivity, sensor, and AI technology, is transforming customer experiences, personalized products, and connected manufacturing. Tata Consultancy Services’ investment in the Bringing Life to Things Lab in Ohio aims to help clients bridge the gap between operational and digital technologies. This facility will enable clients to quickly transform their ideas into minimum viable products, thereby reimagining and scaling their value chains efficiently. With its strategic location in Cincinnati, home to TCS’ largest American delivery center, the lab is ideally positioned to leverage the area’s tech talent to assist our customers across North America.”
Regu Ayyaswamy, Global Head of IoT and Digital Engineering at TCS, added, “With the inauguration of the Bringing Life to Things Lab, TCS reaffirms its commitment to driving innovation and digital excellence in an era defined by AI and GenAI. This lab will ignite co-innovation, enabling clients to brainstorm and collaborate through design thinking workshops, and unlock the full potential of IoT, AI, and GenAI technologies.”
The lab also showcases TCS’ pioneering solutions, including the TCS Neural Manufacturing solution, which offers autonomous and intelligent capabilities for factories, and the TCS connected healthcare platform, which provides solutions for personalized medicine. Key initiatives at the lab include:
- Digital Twin of the Heart: In 2023, TCS created the first-ever digital heart of a professional runner, revealing a virtual replica of Boston Marathon champion and two-time Olympian Des Linden’s heart. This technology aims to transform athlete training by monitoring heart performance in real time and has potential applications in healthcare by preventing medical conditions through real-time data analysis.
- Building Software-Defined Vehicles: TCS aids automakers and OEMs in developing Software-Defined Vehicles (SDVs). The TCS Auto Gen AI Suite at the lab accelerates the design, development, and validation of SDVs using GenAI and object detection to monitor hazards in a vehicle’s path.
The lab also engages with the local community through initiatives like TCS Grow+, a smart gardening technology project. Over 50 employees developed a 3,500 square foot smart garden using IoT technology to monitor plant environments and optimize growth conditions. Since its inception, TCS has harvested over 3,500 pounds of fruits and vegetables, benefiting more than 500 families through various charitable organizations.
Aligned with TCS’ goIT (go Innovate Together) program, the lab serves as a hub for researching, designing, and testing emerging learning concepts before they are introduced in classrooms globally. The lab’s opening underscores TCS’ strong presence in the U.S., where it has a 50-year legacy of driving growth and transforming businesses across all sectors.
