After emerging as a significant atomic power hub, Tamil Nadu is poised to become a prominent space center with rocket/satellite manufacturers, a rocket port, space propellant park, defense corridor, and aerospace park.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will remotely inaugurate India’s second rocket port at Kulasekarapattinam during his visit to Tuticorin District. The port will facilitate the launch of small rockets carrying small satellites, catering to both ISRO and private rocket makers.
Notably, the location of Tuticorin District meets the ideal criteria for a rocket launch site, being on the east coast and near the Equator, which minimizes fuel consumption and enables heavier satellite payloads.
With the launch of small rockets and the establishment of a rocket port in Kulasekarapattinam, Tamil Nadu is poised to become a global space hub, attracting private and government rocket companies to offer cost-effective launch services.
Moreover, the Tamil Nadu Government plans to establish a new Space Industrial and Propellant Park near Tuticorin District, boosting the state’s ecosystem for space-related industries.
In addition to advancements in the space sector, Tamil Nadu continues to expand its atomic power capacity, with operational and planned reactors contributing to the state’s energy infrastructure.
