In a major step forward for India’s electronics ecosystem, Chennai-headquartered Syrma SGS Technology is planning to set up the country’s largest multi-layer Printed Circuit Board (PCB) and Copper Clad Laminate (CCL) manufacturing unit in Naidupeta, Andhra Pradesh. The proposed investment for the facility stands at $210.1 million, with South Korea’s Shinhyup Electronics Ltd onboard as the technology and marketing partner.
Discussions between the company and the state government are nearing conclusion, with approval from the Andhra Pradesh cabinet expected soon. Syrma SGS is also preparing to apply for central government production-linked incentives (PLI) and will seek benefits like capital subsidies, power tariff waivers, and workforce training incentives from the state.
The plant is expected to be operational by the 2026–27 financial year. PCBs serve as the foundation of electronic devices, allowing connections between key components, while CCL acts as the raw base material for PCB fabrication.
This new facility is strategically designed to support high-growth sectors including electric vehicles, healthcare technology, smart metering, and advanced automotive electronics. The project is aligned with India’s $2.68 billion Electronics Component Manufacturing Scheme, part of the government’s broader push for self-reliance in electronics production.
According to research firm UnivDatos, rising demand for electric vehicles and the integration of advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) are fueling a sharp uptick in PCB needs, especially within India’s expanding automotive sector.
Syrma SGS estimates the project could contribute an additional $723.7 million to its revenue once fully operational. The partnership with Shinhyup Electronics will be instrumental in delivering global-level quality and innovation. Additionally, the company plans to establish a research and development center alongside the manufacturing plant to focus on engineering innovation and product design.
The South Indian electronics corridor—comprising Bengaluru, Chennai, and Hyderabad—continues to serve as a key driver of PCB consumption. With demand expected to grow at a CAGR of 16.4% from 2025 to 2033, the region offers a solid foundation for Syrma SGS’s expansion into large-scale electronics manufacturing.
