Sujit Singh, a seasoned technology consultant and community advocate, has entered the Democratic primary for New Jersey’s 12th Congressional District. Building his campaign around human services, inclusion, and grassroots politics, Singh aims to address gaps in social programs that affect families, seniors, immigrants, and young people across the district’s four counties.
Singh’s personal story is a cornerstone of his platform. Born into a farming family in Jhajjar, Haryana, near New Delhi, he spent much of his childhood helping on the farm while pursuing his education. After completing an engineering degree, Singh moved to the United States in 1998 with just $90 to his name. He credits his early support from employers for helping him establish a career and raise a family in West Windsor, New Jersey, which he now considers home.
With over 30 years of experience in technology consulting and public-sector projects, Singh has focused on programs that deliver tangible benefits to children and families. He has also dedicated time to nonprofit work supporting adults with disabilities, giving him firsthand insight into how federal policies directly affect communities.
Singh’s experience in politics includes a close mayoral race in West Windsor last year, where he narrowly lost by 164 votes. That campaign shaped his approach to his congressional bid, emphasizing door-to-door engagement and direct communication with residents. Over 8,000 doors were visited during his mayoral run, reflecting his commitment to grassroots outreach.
The candidate highlights the demographic diversity of New Jersey’s 12th District, which includes significant Asian, Hispanic, and Black populations alongside immigrant and small-business communities. Singh argues that despite this diversity, critical issues such as human services and disability support remain underrepresented in policymaking.
Singh has already attracted strong local support, with more than 200 volunteers committed to his campaign. He emphasizes that his backing spans multiple communities, including South Asian, Hispanic, and other groups. On foreign policy, Singh also underscores the importance of strengthening US-India relations, framing New Delhi as a strategic partner.
With New Jersey’s 12th District historically held by Democrats, Singh’s candidacy brings attention to human services, grassroots participation, and inclusive representation as the 2026 election approaches.
