In a strategic maneuver aimed at strengthening its leadership and innovation in the artificial intelligence (AI) domain, Snowflake, a Data Cloud company, has named Sridhar Ramaswamy as its new CEO. This transition follows the retirement of outgoing CEO Frank Slootman, who will now serve as chairman of the board, according to an official statement by the company.
Ramaswamy, formerly the senior vice president of AI at Snowflake based in Bozeman, Montana, expressed his enthusiasm for guiding the company into a new growth phase, highlighting AI’s potential to deliver substantial business value. He emphasized his focus on accelerating innovation delivery to customers and partners.
Before joining Snowflake, Ramaswamy co-founded Neeva, the world’s premier private AI-powered search engine, and led Google’s advertising products for 15 years, significantly contributing to the growth of AdWords and Google’s advertising sector. During his tenure at Google, he oversaw various advertising aspects, including search, display, and video advertising, analytics, shopping, payments, and travel, playing a crucial role in scaling Google’s advertising revenue from US$ 1.5 billion to over US$ 100 billion.
Since he joined Snowflake following the acquisition of Neeva in 2023, Ramaswamy has played a crucial role in developing the company’s AI strategy. His efforts include the introduction of Snowflake Cortex, a managed service streamlining AI implementation and enhancing business outcomes.
Snowflake sees Ramaswamy’s appointment as a testament to its dedication to advancing AI innovation and offering cutting-edge solutions to its clientele. The statement underscores his visionary leadership and successful track record, positioning him to guide Snowflake through continued growth and success in the evolving AI and cloud computing landscape.
