Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman led a high-level delegation, including Union Ministers Piyush Goyal, S. Jaishankar, and Ashwini Vaishnaw, in a crucial meeting with Singapore’s President Tharman Shanmugaratnam and Prime Minister Lawrence Wong ahead of the second round of the India-Singapore Ministerial Roundtable (ISMR) in Singapore on Monday.
The discussions centred on enhancing collaboration in vital areas such as digitalization, green initiatives, and skill development. The Ministry of Finance highlighted these efforts, emphasising the strategic partnership between India and Singapore.

Finance Minister Smt. @nsitharaman acknowledged President Mr. @Tharman_S for his strong support of multilateralism, noting his significant role in shaping impactful reforms to help governments and institutions address 21st-century challenges. The Union Finance Minister also thanked President Tharman for his important work as a member of the G20 Expert Group on Strengthening Multilateral Development Banks (MDBs) during India’s G20 Presidency in 2023.
During the talks, the leaders underscored the importance of reinforcing the strategic partnership between India and Singapore, focusing on areas critical to the future growth of both countries. Sitharaman commended President Tharman’s dedication to multilateralism and his significant role in reforming global institutions to tackle contemporary challenges effectively.
Additionally, the Ministry of Finance noted the delegation’s meeting with Singapore’s Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, where discussions revolved around the need to deepen the partnership and explore new opportunities for cooperation. The leaders acknowledged the increasing significance of collaboration in areas like digital transformation and green initiatives, which are essential for the sustainable development of both nations.
