The College of Earth and Mineral Sciences at The Pennsylvania State University has announced that Siddharth Pandey, a location intelligence manager at Deloitte, has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the Graduates of Earth and Mineral Sciences (GEMS). His selection adds new industry expertise to the alumni leadership body.
The GEMS Board consists of 16 individuals, including 15 elected members and the immediate past president. Established in 1994, the board supports the GEMS Alumni Society by shaping its initiatives, strengthening alumni engagement, and promoting professional development opportunities. Board members are nominated and elected by the wider GEMS membership and the current board, with each serving a three-year term.
Pandey said the appointment reflects both his professional interests and his personal connection to Penn State. He noted that contributing to the board aligns with his commitment to advancing the geospatial sector, encouraging young professionals entering the field, and helping build a strong alumni community. He added that serving on the board provides a chance to give back to the university that played a defining role in shaping his career.
With more than a decade of experience in the geospatial and location intelligence domain, Pandey currently serves as a manager within Deloitte & Touche LLP’s location intelligence practice. His work centers on helping organizations make informed decisions through tools and strategies that rely on geospatial data, analytics, and innovative mapping technologies.
His involvement in the geospatial community extends well beyond his professional role. Pandey serves on the board of directors for the Geospatial Professional Network (GPN) and previously completed a three-year term on the organization’s Vanguard Cabinet. Over the years, he has earned multiple recognitions for his contributions to the field. In 2018, xyHt magazine named him one of its “40 Under 40” top geospatial professionals. In 2021, Geospatial World included him among its “50 Rising Stars,” and xyHt later highlighted him again in its “22 Young Geospatial Professionals to Watch” list for 2022.
His achievements continued with the GPN Young Professional of the Year award in 2022, followed by the GPN Leadership Award in 2023, marking his growing influence in the industry.
Pandey holds a bachelor’s degree in geography from Penn State, earned in 2014. He later completed a master’s degree in geographic information systems (GIS) at the University of Maryland, further solidifying his foundation in the field.
