The California Infrastructure and Economic Development Bank (IBank) has appointed Shrina Kurani as its new Deputy Director of Venture Capital. In this role, she will spearhead efforts to enhance venture capital investments that fuel California’s dynamic and innovation-driven economy.
Kurani, who has extensive experience in both venture capital and sustainability, has been an integral part of IBank since 2023. As a Venture Specialist, she played a key role in expanding funding avenues for high-growth startups. In addition to her work at IBank, she is a Managing Partner at SNØCAP, an early-stage investment firm, and formerly held the position of Vice President of Business at Republic, where she worked to make startup investments more accessible to a broader range of investors.
Beyond her financial and entrepreneurial expertise, Kurani also ventured into politics. In 2022, she campaigned for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives for California’s 41st Congressional District but did not advance past the primary stage.
Academically, Kurani holds a Master of Science in Environmental Studies and Sustainability Science from Lund University and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Riverside. Her educational background aligns with her passion for sustainable innovation and economic development.
Expressing her enthusiasm for her new role, Kurani stated, “I’m thrilled to take on this position and help entrepreneurs secure the capital they need for growth. California remains a hub for world-changing innovation, and I look forward to collaborating with the team to drive sustainable economic progress.”
