Shasti Conrad, Chair of the Washington State Democrats, has been named Associate Chair of the Democratic National Committee (DNC), adding another groundbreaking achievement to her political career. The youngest person and first woman of color to lead the Washington Democrats, Conrad, will serve as Associate Chair of the Democratic National Committee alongside Labor Caucus Chair Stuart Applebaum and U.S. Representative Joyce Beatty. Expressing her gratitude, she stated that she is honored and proud to take on the role. She emphasized the party’s responsibility in ensuring oversight of the Trump-Musk Administration, citing Washington State’s resilience in the 2024 elections as a model for national Democratic strategy.
DNC Chair Ken Martin commended Conrad’s leadership and strategic expertise, emphasizing the importance of having experienced and determined operatives to uphold Democratic values across all levels.
Throughout her career, Conrad has achieved several historic milestones. Born in Calcutta and raised in rural Oregon, she earned degrees from Seattle University and Princeton’s School of Public and International Affairs.
Her extensive political experience includes work on four presidential campaigns, a role in the Obama White House’s Office of Public Engagement, and advisory work for President Obama’s senior team. Recognized as a rising force in politics, Conrad has been featured in Seattle Met Magazine’s list of most influential people in Seattle politics and in the American Association of Political Consultants’ 40 Under 40 list.
As DNC Associate Chair, Conrad is set to play a pivotal role in shaping Democratic strategy ahead of the 2026 midterms and beyond.
