Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the transformative potential of the semiconductor industry for India’s youth during the ‘India’s Techade: Chips for Viksit Bharat’ program. He highlighted the significance of the semiconductor initiative in providing opportunities for capable youth. According to him, India’s talent pool in chip design and manufacturing contributes to completing the nation’s talent ecosystem in the semiconductor sector.
PM Modi underscored the awareness among today’s youth about the emerging opportunities in sectors like space and mapping, which are being opened up for them. He attributed India’s rise as the third-largest startup ecosystem globally to unprecedented incentives and support, foreseeing new avenues for startups in the semiconductor domain.
The inauguration of semiconductor facilities, including a fabrication facility at Dholera Special Investment Region (DSIR), Gujarat, and Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT) facilities at Morigaon, Assam, and Sanand, Gujarat, marks a significant step towards establishing India as a semiconductor hub.
PM Modi emphasized the importance of creating a robust global supply chain, especially in light of disruptions caused by the pandemic. He expressed confidence in India’s potential to emerge as a global leader in semiconductor manufacturing, citing the country’s ongoing efforts towards self-reliance and global competitiveness.
