New Delhi [India], September 11 (ANI): Ajit Manocha, CEO of SEMI, praised the reception at SEMICON India 2024, calling it ‘unprecedented’ and ‘exponential.’ He highlighted the event’s vast scale, with over 100 global CEOs and CXOs from the semiconductor supply chain in attendance. Manocha expressed confidence in the industry’s commitment to making India a key player in the semiconductor sector, noting its importance to global industries and humanity.
The three-day SEMICON India 2024 conference, which began on Wednesday, aims to showcase India’s semiconductor strategy and its goal of becoming a global hub for semiconductor production. Randhir Thakur, President and CEO of Tata Electronics, commended the Prime Minister for facilitating this significant gathering and lauded his vision of establishing the semiconductor industry in India. Thakur highlighted the Prime Minister’s recent initiatives, such as the groundbreaking of India’s first commercial fab in Dholera and the Indigenous OSAT factory in Jagiroad.
Kurt Sievers, CEO of NXP Semiconductors, expressed enthusiasm about SEMICON 2024 and announced plans to double R&D efforts to over a billion dollars. Hidetoshi Shibata, CEO of Renesas, congratulated the Prime Minister for a successful event and highlighted the expansion of Renesas’ operations in India, including a new assembly and test facility in Gujarat and increased presence in Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Noida.
Luc Van Den Hove, CEO of IMEC, emphasised the importance of long-term R&D investment and reliable supply chains, praising India’s role as a trusted partner.
