Samsung Electronics CEO and Vice-Chairman Jong-Hee (JH) Han highlighted India’s importance to Samsung during his visit to the Noida factory, which produces smartphones, tablets, and refrigerators. This marked Han’s second visit to India this year, emphasizing the market’s growing significance for the South Korean tech giant.
In a press statement, Han described India as one of the fastest-growing markets globally, offering immense opportunities for Samsung. He mentioned that Samsung was one of the early investors in India and expressed satisfaction that the Noida factory has become one of their largest facilities, producing goods for both India and global markets.
Earlier this year, Samsung launched its ‘AI for All’ vision to enhance consumer lives by integrating artificial intelligence and hyper-connectivity through open collaboration. In 2024, the company’s Galaxy AI-powered premium smartphones and Bespoke AI home appliances—including refrigerators, air conditioners, and washing machines—created a distinctive ecosystem of connected devices. This ecosystem offers convenience, connectivity, comfort, and energy savings, according to the press release.
The ‘One Samsung’ experience, powered by advanced technology, has set Samsung products apart, especially in the premium refrigerator segment. This market has seen rapid growth in India as consumers increasingly opt for larger capacity refrigerators with enhanced features, the press release added.
Han commended the India-based R&D teams for their contributions to new products and services, noting that India’s large population of tech-savvy young consumers drives innovation. He expressed pride in the many young, enterprising engineers at their Indian R&D centers who play a crucial role in AI development.
Reaffirming its commitment to the Indian market and the government’s “Make in India” initiative, Samsung pointed to its two state-of-the-art manufacturing plants in Noida and Sriperumbudur. Additionally, Samsung has established a design centre in Noida and operates three R&D facilities—two in Noida and one in Bengaluru—crucial for driving innovation in both local and global products.
