Vicky Kaushal is all set to portray the iconic character of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, known for his close association with former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi during the 1971 Indo-Pakistan war. The film teaser, released a few weeks ago, offered a glimpse into Manekshaw’s world. Now, the trailer launch date for the biopic, titled “Sam Bahadur,” has been finalized for November 7, giving audiences a more comprehensive look at the film.
On Monday, the producers of “Sam Bahadur,” RSVP Movies, made the official announcement on social media regarding the impending trailer release. They emphasized that the movie narrates the story of a man who dedicated his life to the Indian Army and the nation.
Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw served as the Chief of the Army Staff during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971 and was the first Indian Army officer to attain the rank of field marshal. His pivotal role in the creation of the nation of Bangladesh in 1971 is well-recognized, and his compassion towards Prisoners of War after the war further solidified his legacy. Although he had initially planned to retire in June 1972, his service was extended for an additional six months, and he achieved the prestigious rank of field marshal on January 1, 1973, becoming the inaugural Indian Army officer to attain such a position.
In the movie “Sam Bahadur,” Sanya Malhotra will portray the role of Sam Manekshaw’s wife, Siloo, while Fatima Sana Shaikh will portray Indira Gandhi, and Neeraj Kabi will take on the role of Jawaharlal Nehru, among others. The film, directed by Meghna Gulzar, is scheduled for release on December 1, 2023.
