Spiritual leader Sadhguru has been awarded the CIF Global Indian Award by the Canada India Foundation for his exceptional contributions to fostering a conscious planet and his proactive leadership in addressing environmental issues. The award is part of an upcoming event aimed at recognizing individuals of Indian descent who have significantly impacted the world.
Ritesh Malik, Chair of the Canada India Foundation, remarked, “Sadhguru exemplifies a deep understanding of contemporary challenges while offering solutions to the most pressing issues. He draws upon the wisdom of ancient Indian spiritual and knowledge systems combined with practical common sense, which is unfortunately rare today.”
Malik further noted, “Sadhguru provides actionable solutions for both personal development and long-term strategies to address global challenges such as soil degradation, climate change, and food quality.” He emphasized that Canada stands to gain immensely from thought leaders like Sadhguru, whose teachings resonate with Canada’s commitment to individual well-being, sustainability, and inclusivity.
His focus on yoga, meditation, and mindfulness aligns seamlessly with Canada’s public health initiatives, particularly in combating mental health issues, Malik added.
In response to receiving the award, Sadhguru expressed his gratitude to the Canada India Foundation and announced that he would dedicate the accompanying prize of $37,000 (CAD 50,000) to Cauvery Calling. This initiative, launched by the Isha Foundation, aims to rejuvenate the River Cauvery, which runs through the Indian states of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
