RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat on Thursday issued a powerful appeal for enduring national unity, emphasizing that the solidarity displayed during Operation Sindoor should become a permanent force in Indian society. Speaking at an RSS event in Nagpur, Bhagwat stated that while India celebrates diversity, its real strength lies in recognizing its collective identity. He urged citizens to remember their shared roots and rise above divisions.
Lauding the swift and decisive response to the Pahalgam terror attack, Bhagwat commended the Indian government for its strong stance and praised the armed forces for their remarkable courage and preparedness. He particularly highlighted how the country’s political leadership set aside ideological rivalries to stand together in the face of external threats. “The unity we saw during Operation Sindoor is a true representation of democracy in action — where the people and leaders rise above individual interests for the greater good,” he stated.
Bhagwat reserved his highest praise for the Indian public, saying that the collective show of patriotism and cooperation across communities created a profound sense of national strength. He expressed hope that this spirit of togetherness would extend beyond the Operation Sindoor moment and become a lasting characteristic of Indian society.
However, he also warned that the challenges aren’t over. “The danger from divisive ideologies like the two-nation theory still exists. As long as such distortions persist, we must remain alert and united,” Bhagwat said, underscoring the importance of societal vigilance and harmony. He stressed that while the government and military continue their efforts to secure the nation, the real power lies in the unity and resolve of the people.
Drawing a historical parallel, Bhagwat cited British Prime Minister Winston Churchill, who refused to surrender to Nazi Germany during World War II, buoyed by the unwavering spirit of the English people. Just as Churchill credited the common citizens for his resolve, Bhagwat emphasized that real leadership emerges from the strength of a united population.
As the RSS approaches its centenary in October, Bhagwat reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to fostering social harmony and combating forced conversions. He concluded by saying, “We may be diverse, but fundamentally, we are one. Let us uphold this truth not only in times of crisis but as a way of life.”
