The Ritesh Shah Charitable Pharmacy (RSCP), a nonprofit organization based in New Jersey, has been selected as the beneficiary for July as part of ‘The Giving Year’ initiative by Basie Center and Bank of America. This year-long program aims to recognize and support organizations that have made significant contributions to the local community.
As the beneficiary, RSCP will receive a donation of US$1 for every ticket sold at the Count Basie Center for the Arts during the month of July. In addition, the organization’s clients and volunteers will also receive complimentary tickets to events at the renowned performing arts center in Red Bank, New Jersey, which hosts various shows including theater, music, comedy, and poetry.
RSCP, established in 2022, is dedicated to providing free prescription medicines to uninsured and underserved communities who fall within or below 300 percent of the federal poverty level. They also focus on improving access to immunizations, health education, and pharmacy services to address healthcare disparities in Monmouth County, New Jersey.
The founder and trustee of RSCP is Indian American Ritesh Shah, a registered pharmacist, and his wife Asha Shah serves as a trustee and the pharmacist-in-charge. They expressed gratitude for the support and recognition from the Count Basie Center and Bank of America, emphasizing the significance of their mission. They hope that this exposure will raise awareness about accessible healthcare and inspire others to join their cause in improving the well-being of the community.
Albert Garofalo, the president of Bank of America New Jersey, praised the impact of Ritesh Shah Charitable Pharmacy in serving underserved populations in Monmouth County. By partnering with the pharmacy, they aim to ensure that the organization can continue to address health disparities by providing life-saving medications, valuable health education, and meeting the local demand for these services for years to come.
