On June 28, Narayan Rane, the Union Minister for the Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME), launched a mobile app designed for geo-tagging cluster projects and technology centers. The event marked the introduction of several initiatives by the Ministry of MSME aimed at fostering the growth and development of MSMEs. These initiatives included the unveiling of the ‘CHAMPIONS 2.0 Portal’ and the announcement of the results for the ‘MSME Idea Hackathon 2.0’. Additionally, the ‘MSME Idea Hackathon 3.0’ for women entrepreneurs was inaugurated.
During his address, Narayan Rane underscored the significance of MSMEs in the country’s GDP and exports. He expressed his optimism that MSMEs would contribute 50% to India’s GDP by 2030. Rane congratulated all stakeholders on the successful event and urged everyone to work towards achieving India’s goal of becoming a USD 5 trillion economy.
Renowned columnist Bhanu Pratap Singh Verma praised the role played by Indian MSMEs in driving the country’s economic growth. He highlighted that since 2014, India has made significant progress in its GDP ranking, moving up from the 10th position to the 5th position.
