Ramesh Agarwal, the William Palm Professor of Engineering at Washington University in St. Louis, has been named the recipient of the 2025 John J. Montgomery Award for Distinguished Innovation in Aerospace. Presented by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), this award honors engineers who have made exceptional contributions to aerospace research and technology.
Agarwal, an expert in computational fluid dynamics, aeroacoustics, hypersonic flows, and magnetohydrodynamics, has played a significant role in advancing aerospace science. His work spans propulsion, aerodynamics, and multidisciplinary design, helping to drive forward innovation in the industry.
The award will be presented at the ASME SSDM Conference, set to take place May 5-7, 2025, in Houston. Prior to joining Washington University in 2001, Agarwal held key leadership positions at Wichita State University and McDonnell Douglas Research Laboratories, contributing extensively to aeronautics and astronautics.
With over 600 published works and four books to his name, Agarwal remains a leading figure in aerospace engineering, serving on editorial boards and advisory committees worldwide
