Illinois Democrat Raja Krishnamoorthi received the 2023 Roosevelt Leadership Award during an event near Mount Rushmore in South Dakota. This honor, presented by the Franklin Center for Global Policy Exchange and the Ripon Society, draws inspiration from President Theodore Roosevelt’s legacy and is bestowed upon leaders who embody qualities reminiscent of the 26th president.
Krishnamoorthi expressed gratitude for the award and highlighted the importance of bipartisan collaboration in addressing the nation’s challenges. He emphasized that shared American values unite the country, and progress is achievable through working together.
In addition to Krishnamoorthi, three congressional colleagues, namely U.S. Reps Joyce Beatty, Adrian Smith, and Kelly Armstrong, were also recognized with the Roosevelt Award for their exceptional dedication to public service.
The Roosevelt Leadership Award celebrates individuals driven by a strong sense of duty and service, guided by their love for the nation. It underscores a commitment to act in the best interests of the American people, transcending party affiliations and personal recognition.
The Franklin Center for Global Policy Exchange provides a forum for cooperation among members of the U.S. Congress, international parliamentary counterparts, diplomatic officials, private sector representatives, scholars, and policy experts. Through conferences and events, it fosters informed and impartial discussions on significant global issues.
Established in 1962, the Ripon Society is a public policy organization named after Ripon, Wisconsin, where the Republican Party originated in 1854. The Franklin Center for Global Policy Exchange, on the other hand, is a non-partisan, non-profit organization dedicated to promoting a deeper understanding of major international issues on a global scale.
