Ananya Panday, while reflecting on her career beginnings, admitted that she initially faced fear but has since understood the value of authenticity over pretense. She emphasized that being genuine in front of an audience is more rewarding than attempting to put on a facade.
Panday, known for her role in “Kho Gaye Hum Kahan,” has recently voiced the character of Riley in the Hindi version of Disney Pixar’s “Inside Out 2.” During the film’s promotional event, she discussed the difficulty of maintaining a facade of “toxic positivity,” highlighting the necessity of experiencing a full range of emotions, including sadness, to balance happiness.
Starting her acting career at 18, Panday acknowledged the persistent nature of fear. She shared that while trying to please everyone might win over many people, staying true to oneself and earning the appreciation of a few is far more gratifying. This approach, she believes, brings her joy.
“Inside Out 2,” the sequel to the 2015 Oscar-winning animated film “Inside Out,” continues to explore the inner workings of Riley’s mind. The film portrays Riley as she transitions into adolescence, with her personified emotions navigating new challenges and emotions like Anxiety, Envy, Ennui, and Embarrassment.
Panday, also recognized for her performances in “Gehraiyaan” and “Dream Girl 2,” found dubbing for “Inside Out 2” a liberating experience. She explained that unlike her usual overthinking process during dubbing, she approached this project by channeling her own teenage experiences, resulting in a more authentic performance.
Set to release in both English and Hindi on June 14, “Inside Out 2” returns to Riley’s mind where her familiar emotions face upheaval with the introduction of new feelings. The film is directed by Kelsey Mann and features an extensive voice cast, including Amy Poehler, Maya Hawke, and others in the English version.
