Russian President Vladimir Putin will travel to India on December 4–5, marking his return to New Delhi after several years and signaling the revival of the long-standing tradition of annual high-level summits between the two countries. Russia’s First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov, who also co-chairs the India–Russia Inter-Governmental Commission, described the visit as a major step toward elevating the strategic partnership and advancing future-focused cooperation.
Manturov noted that both nations have invested considerable effort in preparing a detailed agenda for the two-day visit. He emphasized that the meetings are expected to generate strong outcomes, offering fresh momentum across defense, trade, technology, energy, and joint investment sectors. According to him, the return to yearly leadership-level interactions underscores the maturity and stability of the bilateral relationship.
Coinciding with Putin’s arrival, New Delhi will host the India–Russia Forum, bringing together senior officials and influential business figures from both countries. Manturov said the forum will explore new pathways to diversify trade flows, particularly by expanding India’s exports of equipment, raw materials, and food products to the Russian market. The dialogue will also spotlight industrial partnerships, high-technology collaborations, and long-term investment opportunities designed to strengthen economic integration.
He added that the forum is intended as a direct bridge between companies from both sides, enabling quicker decision-making, stronger commercial ties, and increased mutual trade volumes. Russia views India not only as a key partner but as a trusted nation whose cooperation remains vital amid shifting global economic and geopolitical currents.
Looking ahead, Manturov outlined Moscow’s vision for the next decade of India–Russia relations. He said the partnership will remain resilient, adaptable, and rooted in a foundation of deep historical trust. Despite an unpredictable global environment, he predicted that the two nations will advance into a new phase of collaboration, especially in high-technology industries, cutting-edge scientific research, and emerging industrial sectors. He expects current joint initiatives to mature into long-term projects, opening doors to stronger cooperation in innovation-driven fields.
Manturov also highlighted the rising influence of emerging economies, stating that India and Russia will play a central role in strengthening the voice of the Global South. Putin’s visit will include meetings with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, participation in the 23rd India–Russia Annual Summit, and a state banquet hosted by India’s President.
