Actor Priyanka Chopra Jonas has revealed her first look from her upcoming film The Bluff, offering audiences a glimpse into a powerful and action-driven role unlike any she has portrayed before. The newly released images showcase Chopra in a gritty pirate avatar, sharing the screen with actor Karl Urban in what appears to be a high-stakes and emotionally charged narrative.
The visuals highlight intense confrontations, fast-paced action sequences, and dramatic moments that hint at the film’s raw tone. Chopra is seen performing physically demanding scenes, blending combat-driven action with emotional depth. Introducing her character on social media, she described the role as “Bloody Mary,” portraying her as a mother, protector, and pirate, signaling a layered and formidable presence at the center of the story.
The Bluff also features Temuera Morrison in a significant role, adding further weight to the ensemble cast. Backed by Amazon MGM Studios, the film is directed by Frank E. Flowers and co-written by Flowers along with Joe Ballarini. Production is led by the Russo Brothers through their banner AGBO, known for large-scale, character-driven storytelling.
In the film, Chopra plays a former pirate whose buried past resurfaces, compelling her to face dangers she believed she had left behind. Speaking about the project, Chopra explained that The Bluff aims to depict piracy in a more grounded and historically authentic way, steering away from exaggerated or fantasy-driven portrayals commonly seen in popular cinema.
She shared that the team drew inspiration from real-life pirates of the 1700s, including the Irish pirate Grace O’Malley. While the film was shot in Australia, the story is set in the Cayman Islands, a region historically used by pirates as a resting point between voyages. Chopra noted that this setting naturally created a culturally diverse world, shaped by influences from regions such as Scotland, Africa, India, and the Caribbean, which is reflected in the film’s cast and storytelling.
According to Chopra, this diversity and realism form the backbone of the film’s narrative strength, allowing the characters to feel authentic and globally rooted. The Bluff is scheduled to premiere on Prime Video on February 25, 2026, and is expected to deliver a compelling mix of historical drama, action, and character-driven storytelling led by a strong female protagonist.
