Defence Minister Rajnath Singh underscored the increasing importance of the private sector in India’s economy during the inauguration of a new Sainik School at Shri Bhawani Niketan Public School. He pointed out that Sainik schools are now being established through the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, marking a departure from the traditional governance by central and state governments. Singh emphasized that these institutions will be instrumental in cultivating values such as discipline, patriotism, and courage among students, thus providing a new direction for society.
He acknowledged the evolving economic landscape, where the private sector is taking the lead in manufacturing and services, while the agricultural sector continues to employ over 50% of the workforce. Singh expressed optimism that the PPP model in education will leverage the strengths of both the public and private sectors, delivering high-quality education to future generations. He reiterated India’s long-standing commitment to education across various fields, including science, mathematics, astronomy, and the arts, and highlighted how the New Education Policy will empower the upcoming generation.
The Defence Minister also noted the comprehensive role of Sainik schools in the holistic development of students, preparing them to actively contribute to the nation’s advancement. The event was attended by Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari and Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore. Last year, the Union government sanctioned the establishment of 100 Sainik schools in collaboration with NGOs, private institutions, and state governments, with the first schools set to begin from Class 6. In September 2023, the Sainik Schools Society signed a Memorandum of Agreement with Shri Bhawani Niketan Shiksha Samiti to launch the new Sainik School.
