President Murmu also reflected on India’s journey toward economic integration, particularly lauding the implementation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST). She underscored that GST has established a unified market, driving self-reliance and further strengthening the economy. Additionally, she noted the success of Operation Sindoor as a testament to India’s defense capabilities and commitment to strategic self-sufficiency.
The President commended the Indian diaspora, stating that overseas Indians bring pride to the nation on the global stage, reinforcing the country’s image as a vibrant and capable democracy. Public representatives were also recognized for their dedication to welfare and development initiatives, which align with the aspirations of citizens and enhance the nation’s progress.
In her address, President Murmu highlighted the role of entrepreneurs and innovative professionals in nation-building, applauding their contributions to India’s growth and self-reliance. Initiatives like the ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ campaign and the opening of over 570 million bank accounts under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana—over 56% of which are held by women—demonstrate tangible progress in empowering women economically and socially.
