The Ayodhya Ram Mandir, slated to open on January 24, 2024, will be inaugurated by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Initiated following a historic 2019 Supreme Court judgment, the nearly completed construction spans 70 acres, with the temple occupying 2.7 acres and costing US$ 216 million.
Emphasizing self-reliance and environmental sustainability, the temple, as per the Ram temple trust, features a 70 percent green cover. This includes preserved existing trees, sewage and water treatment plants, a dedicated power line, and a fire brigade post.
Designed in the traditional Nagara style, the three-story temple complex comprises 392 pillars and 44 gates on each floor. The pilgrim facilitation complex offers healthcare facilities, a toilet block, and storage for personal items before ‘darshan.’
In preparation for the January inauguration, PM Modi will visit Ayodhya on December 30, inaugurating the redeveloped railway station and a new airport. Air India Express will commence its inaugural flight from Delhi to Ayodhya on December 30, with daily service starting from January 16. IndiGo will also launch its inaugural flight on December 30, commencing commercial services from January 6.
The Ram Temple Trust has extended invitations to political leaders, actors, industrialists, and sports icons for the grand inauguration. With plans to host representatives from 50 foreign countries, the ceremony is expected to draw 7,000 attendees.
