Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming Independence Day speech is anticipated to center around the ‘Make in India’ initiative and the accomplishments achieved by his party BJP in the past decade, sources informed India Today. Traditionally delivered from the iconic Red Fort, this will mark PM Modi’s 10th Independence Day speech.
The speech is projected to emphasize the government’s diverse programs implemented over the past 10 years, sources revealed. PM Modi is poised to direct attention towards the welfare of marginalized communities, highlighting the NDA government’s endeavors to enhance their quality of life.
Around 1,700 workers are expected to partake in the event and listen to the speech.
A prominent highlight of the address is likely to be the ‘Make in India in Defence’ program, and notably, the event will feature the use of an indigenous Indian helicopter, the ALH Dhruv, to shower petals on attendees.
In previous instances, Russian-origin Mi-17 helicopters were employed for this purpose. However, the forthcoming event will witness the participation of domestically manufactured choppers for the petal shower, as per insider sources.
In the preceding year, PM Modi endorsed indigenous ATAGS guns for ceremonial firing instead of British guns, which symbolically supports Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL). The PM commended HAL in his speech in Lok Sabha on Thursday.
An official statement reported by news agency PTI states that a bipartisan delegation of US lawmakers, including Indian-American Congressman Ro Khanna and Congressman Michael Waltz, will travel to India to participate in PM Modi’s Red Fort address. These co-chairs of the bipartisan Congressional Caucus on India and Indian Americans will contribute to the event’s significance.
