Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming visit to the United States has been described as “very important” by Mukesh Aghi, President and CEO of the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF). The visit, scheduled for February 12-13, will focus on strengthening geopolitical ties, enhancing trade relations, advancing technology transfer, and addressing illegal immigration concerns.
Aghi emphasized that early discussions between PM Modi and US President Donald Trump would help align both nations on shared economic and strategic objectives. “This visit is all about ensuring continued geopolitical alignment. Trade and economic cooperation, along with technology transfer, will be key areas of discussion. Additionally, issues surrounding illegal migration will be addressed,” he stated.
Trade is expected to be a central topic, with Aghi hinting at potential trade agreements. “Absolutely, trade will be discussed. There’s a possibility of some kind of trade partnership moving forward,” he added.
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri highlighted the significance of the visit, noting that PM Modi’s trip, taking place just weeks after Trump’s second-term inauguration, underscores the strength of India-US relations. The visit will also include meetings with senior US officials and business leaders.
This marks PM Modi’s first visit to the US since Trump’s re-election, setting the stage for deeper collaboration between the two nations in economic and strategic matters.
