Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to embark on a two-day tour starting Friday, covering Bihar, Odisha, and culminating in Visakhapatnam to lead the 11th International Day of Yoga celebrations.
His itinerary begins in Siwan, Bihar, where he will launch the Vaishali-Deoria railway line, a $48 million project. Alongside, a new train service will be introduced to enhance connectivity in North Bihar. Modi will also flag off the Vande Bharat Express, linking Patliputra to Gorakhpur via Muzaffarpur and Bettiah, boosting high-speed rail access in the region.
In a major milestone under the “Make in India, Make for the World” initiative, an export-ready locomotive built at the Marhowra plant will be dispatched to the Republic of Guinea. These advanced engines feature high-horsepower capabilities, microprocessor controls, AC propulsion, regenerative braking, and ergonomic driver cabins.
Further, as part of the Namami Gange mission, Modi will inaugurate six sewage treatment plants (STPs) valued at $216 million, reinforcing his government’s commitment to Ganga river conservation.
He will also announce power and water infrastructure upgrades and distribute the first installment of housing funds under PM Awas Yojana (Urban) to over 53,600 beneficiaries. In a symbolic “Grih Pravesh” ceremony, keys to 6,600 completed homes will be handed over.
With Bihar’s assembly elections approaching, these initiatives are seen as a strategic push to bolster the BJP-JD(U) coalition against the RJD-led INDIA alliance.
In Odisha, the Prime Minister will unveil development projects worth over $2.2 billion, ranging from drinking water, rural roads, bridges, to healthcare and agriculture infrastructure. Notably, Boudh district will receive its first railway link.
To promote sustainable transport, he will launch 100 electric buses under the CRUT (Capital Region Urban Transport) program. Additionally, Modi will release Odisha’s Vision Document for 2036 and 2047, coinciding with the state’s linguistic centenary and India’s 100 years of independence.
He will also honor women achievers from Odisha in a state-level event commemorating one year of BJP governance.
On June 21, Modi will lead the national Yoga Day celebrations from Visakhapatnam, conducting the Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) session with around 500,000 participants at the beach. Over 350,000 events will take place simultaneously across India. This year’s theme, “Yoga for One Earth, One Health,” reflects the holistic wellness philosophy of “Sarve Santu Niramaya.”
