As 2025 begins, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his warm wishes for a successful and joyful year. President Droupadi Murmu also extended her heartfelt greetings, highlighting hopes for joy, harmony, and prosperity for all. Taking to X, she encouraged everyone to work towards a brighter, more inclusive, and sustainable future for India and the world. “Wishing everyone a very Happy New Year! Let us renew our commitment to work together for a better future,” she shared.
Across India, people embraced the New Year with enthusiasm and festivities. In Delhi, popular locations like Hauz Khas and Connaught Place drew large crowds, while the police ensured safety through advanced security measures. In Punjab, worshippers gathered at Amritsar’s Golden Temple, and in Bhopal, streets came alive with music and dance.
Mumbai celebrated with spectacular fireworks at iconic spots like Marine Drive, Juhu Beach, and Chowpatty Beach, where revellers gathered to welcome the New Year. Manali, a favorite tourist destination in Himachal Pradesh, saw cheerful crowds dancing in the streets.
Other cities also joined in the festivities. In Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, fireworks lit up the night sky, while Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, hosted cake-cutting ceremonies. Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu resonated with the beats of percussion instruments, and Chennai witnessed massive gatherings to mark the occasion.
