Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Tiruchirappalli on Saturday, where he was greeted by a massive crowd lining his route. Expressing gratitude, the Prime Minister waved to the enthusiastic onlookers from his vehicle. Following the warm welcome, Modi proceeded to the Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple, India’s largest temple compound dedicated to Lord Vishnu. This historic temple, constructed during the Vijayanagara period, is revered as one of the world’s most significant religious complexes.
Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple, often referred to as the abode of Lord Ranganatha, holds immense spiritual importance. The Chief Priest, Sundar Bhattar, extended a special welcome to the Prime Minister, with Sanskrit slogans on the road marking his arrival. Bhattar expressed profound joy at the visit, highlighting it as the first time a Prime Minister has graced the temple. He emphasized the significance of PM Modi’s caring nature, paralleling it with the benevolence of Lord Ranganatha.
PM Modi’s temple itinerary in Tamil Nadu extends to January 20-21, encompassing various sacred sites. The schedule includes listening to scholars recite verses from the Kamba Ramayanam at Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple. Subsequently, the Prime Minister will visit Rameswaram, performing Darshan and Pooja in the revered Sri Arulmigu Ramanathaswamy Temple. In line with recent temple visits, PM Modi will participate in the ‘Shri Ramayana Paryana’ program, fostering cultural and spiritual engagement.
